*Preparation of the earthworks before laying of paving bricks is vital, consult a professional or engineer.
*Only use an accredited, respected installing company; our office will be able to assist. Failure to do this, could result in guarantees to be null and void.
*We recommend the use of Roller Paving Compactor to protect the surface finish of the paving during the compaction process. This equipment can be hired at branches of Coastal Hire, Talisman or other reputable companies. (DO NOT use plate compactor on paving without rollers.) This will result in surface damage. Village Stone will not be held accountable for scratched or damaged paving surfaces.
*When handling paving with a wheel burrow the bricks should be placed in the wheel burrow not thrown in, as damage would occur. Do not tip paving bricks out of a wheel burrow, off load by hand.
*Large Paving blocks should not be carried in a wheel burrow but by hand because bricks could chip and crack, must be handled with care until laid and grouted and should be able to withstand its purpose.
*After installation paving may show white powdery coating on the surface, this should be removed using a hose pipe and soft broom. It is called efflorescence and will disappear in a few months.
*After installation paving may discolour on
the surface due to large amount of water used when grouted, this should return
to original colour once dried out. Will cause efflorescence and will also
disappear in a few months.
Due to the product being handmade, slight colour variations may occur and small variant in size might occur in some bricks.
*Allowance for 5 - 8% difference in size must be made due to the hand-made quality of the individual stones/bricks.
*Whilst it is not essential to coat the
paving with a quality sealant, it is recommended to preserve the aesthetic look
